Turning Point offers support for those who want to recover. Volunteers at the center provide Peer-to-Peer support by conversing one on one with visitors. The primary role of a Peer-2-Peer support volunteer is to be welcoming, empathetic and a good listener. By engaging people, asking questions and making them feel welcome, we succeed in being a source of comfort and support to anyone who wants or needs it.
Recovery coaching is a person-centered, strengths-based approach for supporting people who suffer from their own or someone else’s addictions. Recovery coaches support people in all paths to recovery. Recovery coaching involves no cost to those who receive services.
WHAT RECOVERY COACHES DO:
Help people find ways to stop addictive behaviors (abstinence) or reduce harm associated with addictive behaviors.
Help people find resources that help them make progress in recovery.
Help people work on and achieve life goals disrupted by addiction.
Help people explore their feelings.
Provide encouragement and celebrate successes.
